Sleeving Rope & Wire
BRAIDED SLEEVING AND ROPE
Metal Textiles Braided Sleeving and Rope products are ideal for applications requiring high temperature, flexibility or abrasion resistance in an environment requiring EMI /RFI shielding, insulation or protection. The diversity and versatility of our product line enables Metal Textiles to offer a wide range of materials and custom configurations to optimize shielding effectiveness and ensure EMC integrity and quality.
Metal Textiles braided sleeving is ideal for applications requiring high temperature or abrasion protection, lubricity, extra strength or other critical applications. Materials include Polyester, Nylon, Fiberglass, Teflon®, Kevlar® and other manmade fibers.
Due to its unique construction, the sleeving fits easily over hoses and cables, yet provides a secure and snag-resistant cover. Our sleeving is extremely flexible, allowing for expansion and easy conformance to shapes and contours.
The braiding process creates a consistent wall thickness ensuring complete coverage and optimum performance. Sleeving can be custom designed to the specifications of a particular application.
Metal Textiles braided sleeving is used to insulate steam tracer lines in oil refineries, as thermal and electrical insulation for the wire and cable industry, for covering tines in metal refining, foundries and steel mills, and wherever else shielding, insulation or protection is required.
Our braided sleeving is available in 1/8″ – 24″ i.d. (inside diameter), custom designs, and as braided sleeving over inconel or stainless steel mesh core.
Metal Textiles braided rope is an extremely strong, resilient and flexible fiberglass rope. The special braiding process enables it to spring back to its original shape after compression, making it an excellent choice for gaskets that act as a heat break or door seal. Our aramid ropes allow high strength and controlled elongation to be engineered into the final design while retaining good handling characteristics.
Ropes can be manufactured to meet a variety of requirements including high strength, abrasion protection, high temperature, light weight and many other critical requirements. Most manmade fibers are available.
Our braided rope is available in .04″ – 4″ diameter, round, square and rectangular configuration, and custom specials.
Metal Textiles POLA Oriented Wire gasket material is a combination of EMI/RFI and pressure sealing material available in strip, sheet, or die-cut form. Wires of Monel or Aluminum, oriented perpendicular to the mating surfaces provide EMI attenuation, and the surrounding matrix of silicone or fluoro-silicone elastomer provides a pressure seal, when it is used in a properly designed enclosure.
Fluoro-silicone should be used in applications that may come in contact with hydrocarbon based liquids, such as petroleum oils or fuels. The combination of a highly resilient and compressible material provide for positive
shielding and sealing performance, even under joint mismatch conditions of up to 0.032″.
- Gaskets can be easily die cut from sheet stock to conform to complex interfacing geometry.
- PSA adhesive is available on sheet materials to aid installation.
- Standard sheet stock is furnished in widths of 3″, 4.5″, 6″ and 9″ by 36″ long. Sheet thickness from .020″ and up, with tolerances of +/- .005″. Custom sizes and configurations are available in molded lengths of up to 18 feet.
- Vulcanized sections can be constructed in sizes to accommodate a wide range of applications. Standard strip part numbers and sizes are shown on the following pages.
